It’s hard to dub any championship game — and one featuring six-time WPIAL champion North Allegheny, at that — as “David vs. Goliath.”
But when No. 2 North Allegheny (8-3) faces top-seeded Central Catholic (10-1) at 6:05 p.m. in Saturday’s WPIAL Class 6A championship at Pine-Richland, the Tigers are well aware of the arduous challenge that awaits.
“It’ll be a combination of the biggest and fastest team that we played,” North Allegheny coach Art Walker said. “You look at how many guys they have on both sides of the ball with Division I offers, it’s impressive. We have a Pitt commit Lincoln Hoke and a Monmouth commit Korry Pitts, and the rest of our guys are going through the process with recruiting.”
