A 30-year-old Westland man was ordered to serve two to five years in prison Wednesday after he was accused of imprisoning his pregnant Warren ex-girlfriend last year.

Dakota Varana apologized and said, “I want to be rehabilitated and back with my family” before he received the sentence from Macomb County Circuit Judge James Maceroni in the Mount Clemens courtroom.

Varana was charged with unlawful imprisonment but under a deal with Macomb prosecutors entered pleas to attempted unlawful imprisonment and domestic violence in connection with the September 2024 incident. He also pleaded to an obstruction charge for a March 2025 incident while he was in custody.
