ATLANTA — A man died Monday night in a stabbing in Atlanta's Pittsburgh neighborhood, police said .

An Atlanta Police Department statement Tuesday said officers responded to Grady Memorial Hospital just after 6 p.m. last night and "were notified by medical personnel that a 39-year-old male had arrived at the hospital with apparent stab wounds but had succumbed to his injuries a short time later and was pronounced deceased."

Investigators determined the stabbing happened at 509 Roy Street SW.

"Investigators with the Homicide Unit responded to the scene to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident," the statement said.

There was no information available on what might have happened leading to the stabbing.
