A 24-year-old man from Bournemouth has been arrested in connection with the rape of a woman in her 30s. The incident occurred on Bonfire Night, November 5, 2025, in a wooded area near Maxwell Road. Dorset Police received a report of the assault at approximately 9.18pm.

According to police, the victim had been socialising with a friend in Charminster when she was approached by an unknown man. After a brief interaction, they walked together to the wooded area where the alleged rape took place.

Detective Inspector Mark Jenkins from the Major Crime Investigation Team stated, "Specialist officers are providing support to the victim and we are keeping her updated throughout our enquiries. We have now made an arrest and continue to investigate what happened."

Police are appealing for anyone with information or CCTV footage from the area to come forward. Jenkins added, "We understand that reports of this nature will undoubtedly cause concern for the wider community, but we would like to remind you that local officers are carrying out patrols in the area and can be approached by anyone who has concerns or would like to pass on information."
