Two Southern Adventist University (SAU) students saved a senior citizen during a health fair this year by providing medical attention until she could be taken to a hospital.
Senior nursing majors Yuna Kim and Somee An were working a health fair booth at the Samaritan Center in Ooltewah, a thrift store and social services center.
They say Barbara Smith, a retired SAU employee, was at the Samaritan Center when she became weak and lightheaded. Kim and An jumped into action, rushing her to their health booth.
The students found Smith had high blood pressure and a low pulse. They then notified their assistant professor of nursing and arranged for Smith's transport to a hospital.
Hospital surgeons then gave Smith a pacemaker, allowing her to soon return home.
