Opposition MPs have accused Sir Keir Starmer of losing control of his Downing Street team after newspapers were briefed that the Health Secretary Wes Streeting was plotting against the prime minister.

Mr Streeting said the accusations were totally unjustified – declaring that his critics had been watching too much “Celebrity Traitors”.
