People in Louisiana caught a rare glimpse of the northern lights, or aurora borealis, Tuesday evening, and there’s a chance they could appear again on Wednesday night.

The forecast shows there's about a 50-50 chance of seeing the phenomenon. WWL Meteorologist Alexandra Cranford says we could see strong flares tonight, but it's likely they'll be less intense.

The severe geomagnetic storm produced stunning auroras visible in nearly every state, including Louisiana Tuesday evening. In Louisiana, the lights were visible in areas away from the New Orleans metro area. WWL viewers have been sharing stunning photos of the spectacle.
