An Australian windsurfer was dragged off his board by a shark.
Andy McDonald was out on the Margaret River in Western Australia on Monday when he was suddenly pulled underwater, as seen in incredible footage from the shore.
“Everything was really nice and then just out of the blue — bang,” the 61-year-old veteran surfer told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.
He said that something hard and strong hit him “like a freight train,” catapulting him up into the air before he went underwater.
“I knew it was a shark,” he said. “Everything went underwater, myself and all my gear.”
McDonald claimed he punched, kicked and wrestled with the shark, trying to get away from it and hoping none of his limbs were near the creature’s mouth.
