Grand Avenue Tavern in Hackettstown

A 20-year-old Rockaway man was arrested and charged after he made threats toward a Hackettstown restaurant manager after they attempted to escort him from the premieses, authorities announced Wednesday, Nov. 12.

At 1:39 a.m., on Sunday, Nov. 2 officers observed the manager and a security guard removing the man from the parking lot of Grand Avenue Tavern at 109 Grand Ave., Hackettstown police said.

The man was physically resisting the men kicking him out and yelling aggressively at them, police said. The Rockaway resident had been involved in an incident at the establishment that led to him being asked to leave, police said. He refused, prompting security personnel to attempt to escort him from the premises, police said.

While officers were attempting to speak with the man, he became verbally combative with the bar manager, moved aggressively toward him, and threatened to kill him, police said.

He was issued a summons for disorderly conduct and released pending a court appearance, police said.
