AKRON, Ohio — A 27-year-old suspect was seriously injured Tuesday afternoon after he allegedly crashed a stolen vehicle during a police pursuit in Akron , authorities said.
Akron police said officers were called to the 1600 block of East Avenue around 3:14 p.m. for a report of a stolen car. The owner told police he had left his vehicle running outside the Circle K at 1608 East Avenue when an unknown suspect got in and drove away.
A short time later, an officer spotted the stolen vehicle pulling into a parking lot in the 1300 block of Vernon Odom Boulevard. When the officer attempted a traffic stop, the driver refused to comply and continued eastbound, prompting a pursuit, police said.
