MACON, Ga. — There could be an end in sight to the longest federal government shutdown in U.S. history. The U.S. House of Representatives is set to vote on the stopgap funding bill Wednesday .
The Senate already approved the bill on Monday. If the House approves, and if the president signs it into law, the government will reopen.
If this happens, furloughed workers will return to their jobs, and all federal employees will receive backpay. But how soon will furloughed workers return to work and on-the-job workers receive their back pay?
