GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — In the midst of Veterans Day, one statewide organization is putting out a call for service.
Hospice of Michigan is seeking veteran volunteers to provide camaraderie for other veterans at the end of life.
Former service members are needed across the state, but there's a particular need here in West Michigan. The organization said it has zero volunteers in Muskegon and Big Rapids.
“This is veterans helping veterans,” said Col. Frank Walker, an ambassador for the volunteer program. “So, I solicit and challenge you if you want to do something good on Veterans Day.”
Walker served in the Air Force and Air National Guard for 56 years. He was stationed across Michigan and deployed overseas several times, including Operation Desert Storm in particular.
