A young Hanceville girl, who was attacked by a dog last Friday at an apartment complex, has been released from medical care and is now recovering at home.

According to WBRC 6 , Delyla McCay, 9, received dozens of stitches on her face and backside following an attack from a blue heeler.

The incident occurred when McCay and her 13-year-old sister, McKenzie, were sitting outside the apartment building they lived in, waiting for their father to pick them up. While the two were seated, another child walked near them with the dog on a leash. Despite the restraint, the animal was able to bite into McCay's face and wouldn't let go. Per McKenzie, the child holding the leash "got scared and dropped it." An older teenager then attempted to step in and get the dog off Delyla, which then attacked
