BEREA — The reason the Browns decided to start Dillon Gabriel at quarterback was his development at the position. The reason why they haven't changed starting quarterbacks after Gabriel's five starts remains the same reason.

The reason why Gabriel said he isn't panicking over the, at best, inconsistencies in his first five starts is because he doesn't necessarily believe progress is always demonstrated along a straight, upward line.

"Yeah, I don't think growth is ever linear, and there's regression and there's progression," Gabriel said Nov. 12. "So there's things that get better and things that you got to continue to work on. But I want to continue to get better. And that's what you strive for every single day." Buy Cleveland Browns tickets
