Indiana Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA) Secretary Mitch Roob announced recommendations from the Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Working Group to address Medicaid-funded ABA therapy's growth and sustainability challenges.

ABA therapy is crucial for children with autism spectrum disorder, but Indiana's Medicaid program faced difficulties since starting coverage in 2015. Deputy Secretary Eric Miller highlighted the skyrocketing costs due to limited oversight.

"When Medicaid coverage for ABA therapy began in Indiana, the program was small and costs were manageable," Miller said. "But with little oversight, spending skyrocketed to unsustainable levels."
