Florida basketball announced the signing of 7-foot, 230-pound center Jones Lay on Wednesday, Nov. 12.
Lay committed to UF back on Sept. 9, and is the lone freshman in the signing class. The native of Tabor City, N.C., held a three-star prospect ranking from ESPN and Rivals.
“We are really excited to welcome Jones to our program here at the University of Florida,” said Florida baseball coach Todd Golden in a press release. “Jones is a big, strong athlete, with his best basketball in front of him. He is a smart, hard worker, who already has a lot of the qualities we look for in our student-athletes. He comes from a family of coaches and athletes, and we believe he will become a valuable piece to our program.”
