SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) - The struggle to provide food for families continues, so the City of Savannah is hosting food drives this week for those in need.
Mayor Van Johnson and the City of Savannah have partnered with Second Harvest to give out 1,400 boxes of food for Savannah residents.
WTOC visited the Moses Jackson Community Center Wednesday where people drove, walked, and even biked just to receive these food boxes, which are aimed at helping the 14,000 households in Savannah who rely on SNAP. To them, just a couple meals can go a long way right now.
