The Spirit of Madison High School Marching Band had quite the season, accomplishing something unseen by the school in over 15 years.

On Oct. 4, the band and director Brett Kroeger travelled to Sioux Falls for its annual Festival of Bands, a competition pitting 18 regional bands against each other. To their surprise, the group ended up breaking into the finals, finishing 9th place overall in a competitive field. Making the finals was a massive success for the band, and had the season ended there, it would've been a historic year. ×
