BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Former Louisiana House Speaker Clay Schexnayder has been indicted by a Baton Rouge grand jury on charges of felony theft of a “rare state artifact” and malfeasance in office.
He’s facing charges of felony theft greater than $25,000 and malfeasance in office.

According to the indictment paperwork filed in the 19th JDC,
Count 1: Between 2012 and 2025, the defendant, Clay John Schexnayder, knowingly and intentionally committed theft of a rare Louisiana state artifact, belonging to another, without their consent, or by means of fraudulent conduct, practices, or representations, having a value of $25,000 or more; and
Count 2: Between 2012 and 2025, the defendant, Clay John Schexnayder, committed
