Historical Commission member Jennifer Y. Madden breathed a sigh of relief during a meeting held on November 5. She shared that after years of effort, the restoration project at Cedarville Cemetery and Old Town Burying Ground is now out for bid.

The gates at both cemeteries need repair and must be removed and taken off-site to complete the restoration work, which will entail sandblasting, removing flaking paint and repainting and reinstalling the gates.

The Special Town Meeting held in January 2025 approved appropriating $187,772 under the Community Preservation Act to repair the gates and preservation efforts.

Although original estimates in 2019 did not account for prevailing wage or procurement, Madden and Kathe Maguire had to return to the Community Preservation Committee to settle on
