SCHENECTADY — Randy Stark, the longtime vice president of human resources at St. Clare’s Hospital, was counting on the hospital’s pension to fund his retirement after three decades on the job but saw his pension payments unexpectedly dry up after four months.
Stark testified Wednesday in a pension lawsuit. He is one of the more than 1,100 pensioners that lost their retirement money when the pension was terminated by St. Clare’s in 2019. The state and AARP Foundation is suing seven defendants, including the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany, St. Clare’s Corp. and five individuals for $55 million to repay the pensioners who saw their pensions disappear.
