The City of Montgomery has announced that it has launched a fundraising campaign to build a veterans memorial park.

The city’s Military and Veterans Commission has announced plans to create the park at 2390 Congressman Dickinson Drive, just inside the bypass. The park would be build near the Gunter Pool and the Gunter Park Skate Park.

The city says the the planned 14.4-acre Veterans Memorial Park will feature a memorial complex designed to honor service members from all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces.

“The Veterans Memorial Park will stand as a lasting tribute to our heroes and a testament to Montgomery’s commitment to honoring service and building a stronger, healthier community,” Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed said.
