Geoff Fox, the beloved former WTNH-TV meteorologist of 26 years, has died, his wife announced. He was 75.

Fox died in his sleep on Tuesday, Nov. 11, after entering hospice care earlier this year. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2016.

His wife, Helaine Fox, wrote on Facebook that the final months of his life were brightened as fans and former colleagues shared memories and messages of support on social media.

This is Helaine. I'm sorry to say Geoff lost his battle last night and passed away in his sleep. All the thoughts, prayers and memories you posted kept Geoff going these past few months. He really was grateful for the connection he shared with all of you. As public of a life he lived, his wish was to be cremated with no fanfare. I will honor his wish. Though it will be impossible to answer everyone's posts, I promise to read each and every one of them. Thank you for loving Geoff. He really loved all of you, too.

There has been an outpouring of love and tributes following the news of his death.

"Geoff was more than a meteorologist — he was a familiar and trusted presence in countless homes and hearts, someone whose voice and warmth made the skies a little less uncertain," Linda Sayers Sandrey wrote on Facebook. "Through decades of service, he brought not only the forecast, but connection, compassion, and community."

Others thanked Fox for his decades of dedication to the viewers and communities he served.

"You were a wonderful and kind man, and you will be fondly remembered not only by your TV fans, but by those you befriended and helped over the years," Lori Girola McCarthy wrote. "Truly you were a special person. You lit up a room. Rest in peace, dear Geoff."

Along with his wife, he is survived by their daughter.
