LEXINGTON, Ky. — A disagreement over collective bargaining is leading to further fallout between two teachers’ unions in Fayette County Public Schools. A rift is growing between Fayette County Education Association and KY120-AFT members.
FCEA and another union, 120-AFT, are two unions FCPS educators can join. 120-AFT has been fighting the district for collective bargaining with all employees, but FCEA remains the only recognized union by FCPS for over 50 years.
On Monday, FCEA posted a statement to Facebook reaffirming its mission while also saying, “FCEA cannot and will not work with a so-called ‘representative organization that attacks our union and attempts to undermine our accomplishments.’”
FCEA president Erika Pennington said 120-AFT has made claims FCEA is not a real union
