A 24-year-old Akron man pleaded guilty to complicity to commit felonious assault in the August 2020 shooting death of 8-year-old MiKayla Pickett on Nov. 12, the same day his jury trial in the matter was scheduled to begin.
Robert Scott accepted a plea bargain, pleading guilty to two counts of complicity to commit felonious assault and one three-year firearm specification, which carries additional prison time, defense attorney Rhonda Kotnik said.
In exchange, Summit County prosecutors dismissed complicity to commit aggravated murder and complicity to commit murder charges and multiple firearm specifications.
Kotnik declined to comment. Attorney Richard Kutuchief also represents Scott.
Summit County Common Pleas Court Judge Kelly McLaughlin will sentence Scott at 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 26.
