LYNCHBURG, Va. (WDBJ) - The search is on for Lynchburg’s next police chief.
The city says this will be a community-informed process, one that puts residents’ voices at the center. Finding the right person to lead a department that protects more than 80,000 people, doesn’t happen overnight.
After nearly 30 years, Chief of Police Ryan Zuidema retired from his role to accept a new position as chief in Wilmington, North Carolina.
The City of Lynchburg has launched a nationwide search for its next police chief, and they’re making sure the community has a say.
“The things that the community provides really will help us inform that process and what kind of candidate we are looking at,” said Anna Bentson, Director of Communications with the City of Lynchburg.
