JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. ( WBRC ) - One person has died after a single-vehicle crash in Jefferson County, according to police.

Center Point Fire District says emergency crews are on the scene of the crash at Chalkville School road and Merry Drive and have closed the road for an ‘extended period of time.’

At this time, Center Point Fire is asking drivers to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.

Jefferson County Schools says they have notified parents that dismissal traffic from Chalkville Elementary School is being rerouted.
