Andre Anthony fulfilled a vision last week.
It was put in place by the man who put him in charge of the Bonnabel football program.
Athletic director Micah Hagans decided after last season that the 28-year-old Anthony, a former Edna Karr standout who played for LSU and got drafted into the NFL, had the qualities he wanted in a football coach.
“We couldn’t have picked a better leader, a better man,” Hagans said. “Like I told him, I’m just proud of him. He’ll always have my full support. It’s his first year and we did some things we haven’t done in a long time.”
Bonnabel won a district football championship for the first time since 1998 when the Bruins defeated Riverdale 34-12 in the regular season finale last week, and the teams will coincidentally meet again Thursday at Joe Yenni Stadi
