TOLEDO, Ore. (KPTV) - A high school football coach has been arrested after allegedly hitting a student on school grounds, according to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
The sheriff’s office says a school resource deputy received a report on Oct. 24 of a Toledo Junior/Senior High School football coach hitting a student.
Investigators then interviewed the student and reviewed video of the incident on Oct. 27, and identified 63-year-old football coach Rodney Cross as a suspect in the investigation.
Cross is accused of slapping the student during a conversation in the school gym. The student reportedly told investigators they were not physically harmed, but felt embarrassed in from of their peers who saw the incident.
