SOUTHEAST Mo. (KFVS) - Prosecutors say they will appeal a decision by a judge that would make a Poplar Bluff man eligible for many more years behind bars in a deadly stabbing.
Joseph Cannon was sentenced to 14 years in prison on Wednesday, November 12.
He was found guilty in October of voluntary manslaughter for the 2020 deadly stabbing of Jared Tipler in Scott County, Mo.

According to the Scott County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, the judge agreed with Cannon’s attorney to vacate an order before sentencing that certified him as a prior and persistent felony offender, which made him eligible for a sentence of up to 30 y
