SOUTHINGTON, Conn. (WFSB) - The Southington High School Blue Knights have been named the Torrington Savings Bank High School Football Team of the Week after their upset victory over previously undefeated Windsor.
The Blue Knights started the season with struggles under a new head coach and some inexperience, but have emerged as a state powerhouse over the last month. Friday’s victory over third-ranked Windsor proved the team’s transformation.
“We got into the mindset of going 1 and 0 every week. That changed our mindset and helped us execute,” said Ahmed Mamoon, Southington senior co-captain. “It’s like the team as a whole, the way we looked at the season, attacked practice, everything.”
Head coach Rob Levesque said the team’s focus made the difference as the season progressed.
