WETHERSFIELD, CT (WFSB) - A bowl of pasta could cost people twice as much come 2026.
President Donald Trump announced a more than 100 percent tariff on some Italian pasta brands that would start in January.
D&D Market has been a staple in Connecticut since 1932.
The shop is filled with Italian favorites, such as cheeses, meats, pastas. Eighty percent of its goods are imported.
It said prices have been on the rise.
“In most instances, it’s about 35 percent, at least in the Italian products,” said Daniel D’Aprile, D&D Market, president and owner.
D’Aprile said he has seen firsthand the effects of Trump’s tariffs for months.
He also said he’s been doing what he can to reduce the impact on consumers.
