CANTON, Ohio (WOIO) - A Canton police officer shot and killed a dog Monday while responding to a call.
It happened around 5:30 p.m. outside a home in the 2900 block of 11th Street NW.
According to a Canton police report, officers responded there due to a caller hanging up on 911.
While on their way, officers learned of a second 911 call reporting two people arguing at the house.
Police body camera video shows what happened after the two officers approached the home.
When one officer knocked at a side door, two dogs immediately ran out.
That’s when the other officer fired two shots, killing one of the dogs, a pit bull named Rex.
In the police report, the officer described the dog growling and charging at him before he fired.
