NORFOLK, Va. — Among multiple topics on the Norfolk School Board's agenda Wednesday night is a proposal that would give each member of the board a large pay increase.

A proposed resolution that will be brought up during the public hearing would increase each board member's salary from $3,060 a year to $25,000 a year, beginning on Jan. 1, 2027, and would increase the board chair's salary from $5,100 a year to $27,000 a year.

The salary increases are contingent upon the approval of the school board's annual budget by the City Council, the proposed resolution said.
