Minnesota hunters shot more deer during the opening weekend of firearms deer season than they did during the first two days of season in 2024, the Department of Natural Resources reported Wednesday, Nov. 12.
According to DNR statistics, hunters had registered 63,471 deer through Sunday, Nov. 9, up 7% from the opening weekend in 2024. The opening weekend harvest also was 7% above the five-year mean, DNR statistics showed.
Here’s a breakdown by region for the opening weekend.
Northwest: 19,086, up 4% from 2024 and 4% higher than the five-year mean.
Northeast: 13,222, up 17% from 2024 and 8% higher than the five-year mean.
Central: 21,911, up 9% from 2024 and 14% higher than the five-year mean.
Southwest: 9,252, down 3% from 2024 and 1% lower than the five-year mean.
