A Texas woman who threatened to kill the federal judge overseeing President Trump’s criminal case over the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol was sentenced Wednesday to two years and three months in prison.

Abigail Jo Shry , a 45-year-old Alvin resident, apologized in court, reported CBS News. She told the judge the “abhorrent” and racist voicemail she left “was not and is not reflective of my character or beliefs.”

The Justice Department had asked for a 33-month sentence for the threat against U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan , according to CBS News. The judge settled on 27 months.

According to court documents , Shry called Chutkan’s office in Washington, D.C., from her home in the Houston suburbs on Aug. 5, 2023, shortly after Chutkan was assigned to the Trump Jan. 6 case .
