New Delhi, Nov 12 (PTI) The Air Traffic Controllers' Guild on Wednesday urged the civil aviation ministry to probe the recent failure of Automatic Message Switching System (AMSS) at the Delhi airport and also review the system upgrades at other major airports.

The demand comes after the technical problem with the AMSS, which supports the air traffic control's flight planning process, resulted in delays of more than 800 flights and cancellation of 46 flights at the Delhi airport on Friday.

In a three-page letter, the Air Traffic Controllers' (ATC) Guild said there is an urgent need to evaluate the "efficiency, accountability and structural logic of AAI's Communication, Navigation and Surveillance (CNS) wing".
