SPARKS, Nev. (KOLO) - The City of Sparks is clarifying a potential first responder fee.
In an email to KOLO 8 News Now, the city says Sparks residents, Medicare and Medicaid recipients, as well as those without health insurance, would have no out of pocket expense associated with the potential fee.
Sparks residents with health insurance will have their insurance company billed for the service.
The amount that their plan covers would be the entirety of the fee collected, up to $527, assuming all three conditions are met:
Sparks Fire is the first to arrive at a medical emergency
Sparks Fire provides emergency medical services
The patient is transported to the hospital by another agency.
This would also apply to Reno residents experiencing a medical emergency in Sparks.
