An eight-year-old girl has died after falling from the balcony of a Yaletown condo on Tuesday.

The child fell at around 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 11 from the building where she lived, located at Nelson Street and Expo Boulevard, according to Vancouver police.

First responders tried to save the child but she was declared dead at the scene.

Const. Tania Visintin said the child fell from the 23rd floor onto the 7th. Police didn’t say who else was present in the condo at the time the child fell.

Investigators are now reviewing the events that led up to the fall. Anyone with information about the death is asked to call 604-717-2500.
