EVANSVILLE — Reduced adoption fees and incentives are the tools of animal welfare organizations who have announced a new push to find homes for pets in what they call a "crisis" situation.
The Indiana Coalition of Animal Welfare Professionals and dozens of shelters and rescue organizations across the state recognize November as “Hoosier Adopt a Shelter Pet Month," a time they ask residents to adopt or foster animals and donate money and/or time.
"This initiative brings awareness to the public problem of pet homelessness and the crisis shelters and rescues are facing," said a statement from the Vanderburgh Humane Society.
VHS said the following organizations will participate by offering reduced adoption fees or incentives:
