NEW ORLEANS — The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a deadly shooting that left a 16-year-old boy dead in Hollygrove on Wednesday afternoon.
It happened just before around 4:30 p.m. The victim was found in the 8600 block of Palmetto Street, but investigators later determined the shooting actually occurred in the 8200 block of Stroelitz Street.
According to police, the teen was wearing a school uniform and carrying a backpack, leading detectives to believe he was coming home from school when he was approached by several unidentified males and shot.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
