LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear has announced a project to upgrade parts of I-71 in Louisville.

On Wednesday, Nov. 12, Gov. Beshear shared details about the upcoming two-year, $50 million project to widen I-71 in Louisville by increasing its capacity from four lanes to six lanes.

“Our administration continues to make historic investments to improve safety and reliability on our interstates and to reduce commute times,” said Gov. Beshear. “This project along I-71 will make travel safer and more efficient for Kentucky families, visitors and businesses, while also supporting future growth in one of Louisville’s busiest corridors.”

A two-mile work zone is planned, spanning from the I-65/I-71 interchange near Frankfort Avenue to the I-71/Zorn Avenue interchange. Traff
