CLACKAMAS COUNTY, Ore. (KPTV) - An arson suspect is recovering in a hospital after he was shot by a deputy near Sandy on Sunday night, according to the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office.
At about 9:45 p.m., deputies were called out to an arson on Southeast 362nd Avenue, near Southeast Dee Zee Court. The sheriff’s office said a 911 caller reported that his 44-year-old son had set a utility trailer on fire.
On Wednesday, CCSO identified the man as Daniel Zimmerman.
Zimmerman lives with his father, who allegedly told the 911 dispatcher that his son was agitated, intoxicated, had mental health issues, and a history of fighting with law enforcement.
When a Clackamas County deputy, along with an Oregon State Police trooper, arrived at the scene, they found the fire “growing in size.”
