CREAL SPRINGS, Ill. (WSIL) -- Donald Wayne Doss, a 95-year-old Marine veteran from Southern Illinois, has seen much in his lifetime. Doss was drafted during the Korean War in 1951.
"I did thank a good lord. I went through a lot of stuff, but he brought me home safely," Doss said.
Over the years, Doss has shared many stories with his family about his time on the front lines in Korea. However, nothing fills him with pride quite like his family's dedication to serving their country.
"It makes me feel great," Doss said.
Doss has 24 family members who have served, including some who joined him in the Korean War. Others, like his grandsons, were inspired by him to join the military.
