Common sense appears to be breaking out at city hall.
It may have trouble staying, given the history of that place. Common sense never had an office or even a washroom in the past four years.
But here it is, striving to take root.
Mayor Jeromy Farkas’ office is one cause for optimism. His staffing decisions show a strong sign of balance, with no ideological favourites.
First, the mayor’s engagement manager is Daorcey Le Bray, the communications expert best known for working in ex-mayor Naheed Nenshi’s office and later helping him become NDP leader.
Among other things, Le Bray brings baked-in knowledge of how the mayor’s office works, or should work. His role, evidently, is to keep Farkas connected to the community.
