MOAB — A search-and-rescue operation was underway for a BASE jumper in Moab, police announced Wednesday afternoon.

A post on the Grand County Sheriff's Department's Facebook page asked people to avoid the area.

"A large-scale search-and-rescue operation is currently underway in the Kane Creek area due to a BASE jumper incident," the post reads. A photo shared by the department shows what appears to be someone hanging from a cliff in rocky terrain. Photos later showed what appears to be crews trying to hoist the individual off the mountain.
