COLUMBUS, Ohio — The legislation that cleared the Senate to reopen the government includes language that would federally ban intoxicating hemp products.

Doug Strahm, owner of Happy Harvest in Delaware, said if the bill takes effect, it would eliminate nearly all products his store carries.

"We're not a smoke shop. We don't sell tobacco, so we're 100% this is our business and if this goes down, we don't have another option," Strahm said.

According to a Senate Appropriations Committee summary , the bill would prevent the unregulated sale of intoxicating hemp-based or hemp-derived products, including Delta-8.

Michael Tindall with the Ohio Healthy Alternatives Association said the proposed legislation would devastate the industry.
