For an Astros rotation besieged by injuries and inconsistency throughout the 2025 season, Hunter Brown’s ascension provided quite the silver lining. It also helped the right-hander become a finalist for the 2025 American League Cy Young Award .
But while Brown spent the past season proving he’s ready to be the ace of Houston’s staff, he came up short in the vote for the AL’s top pitcher.
Tigers star Tarik Skubal secured the AL Cy Young Award on Wednesday night, his second in as many seasons. He received 26 first-place votes and finished with 198 points, with Red Sox southpaw Garrett Crochet netting the other four and totaling 132 points. Brown received 24 third-place votes, three fourth-place votes and two fifth-place votes for 80 points.
