Local leaders celebrated the opening of a new $3.5 million affordable housing complex on the Northeast Side on Wednesday.
The City of San Antonio, through its Neighborhood and Housing Services Department (NHSD), provided the funding for Village at the Loop through the HOME Investments Partnership Program and the Northeast Corridor TIRZ.
“San Antonio has become too unaffordable for the average person working here,” said Bexar County Precinct 4 Commissioner Tommy Calvert. “If you look at the rent structure, if you look at the mortgage, average new home price, I mean, how does a family afford $350,000 house nowadays?”
