OAKLAND COUNTY, MI – A 39-year-old Detroit man has been charged with four felonies after allegedly using an AK-47-style rifle to rob a Shell gas station.
Joseph Louis Carter was charged with armed robbery, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person and two counts of felony firearm, Oakland County Prosecutor Karen McDonald announced Nov. 12.
Carter allegedly stole approximately $2,000 from the Shell gas station on Rochester Road in Troy on Oct. 30.
Investigators used the gas station’s security camera footage to identify Carter’s vehicle and locate him.
